I was in New York only once, summer 2003 with my dad.
First we visited his cousin in New Jersey, who tuned pianos for a living, played organ in a catholic church, and was gay. he had the whole black leather outfit, a vest and black leather hat. His small New Jersey House had some cool stairs out front ( it's called a 'stoop' ), he had a steinway flugel, and a tiny backyard that pretty much only had a barbecue and some litter. The whole place smelled like lysterine and i loved the smell. it was summer and hot outside, the whole city had an indescribable smell, and i heard the police sirens that i knew only from the movies. I was just 22 years old. We visited Empire State Building with lots of wind and awesome panoramic views from the top. In Manhattan, we also visited a music store and an italian restaurant. We did Central park, and ground zero, which had many flags and pictures of fallen cops and firefighters. The next day we rode bicycles to Liberty Park, from where we could see the statue of liberty. Another day later we visited my dad's auntie Lenchen, who lived in a house in bayside, queens with her husband Bert. They had a big tree in the garden and she ordered chinese food, which was delivered by an asian man in a BMW. We sat under the tree and ate the food and it tasted great.
We spent 3 or 4 days in New York, then attended a wedding on Long Island of Regina, a cousin of my dad's that worked in finance. it was held in a big mansion that belonged to a professor of a NY university, there was a big swimming pool, people in fancy clothes, lots of real good food and a bartender that would mix you all the drinks you wanted.. for free!
As of summer 2025, my dad's Cousin Steven is dead, his cousin Regina got divorced at some point, but i still have my memories from New York. It was the very first time that i had the opportunity to see the Country called the United States of America.
As of now, flights from London to New York are as low as 240 bucks a pop.
I can't go cause in 2005, only 2 years later, some stupid ass Mormons did me dirty. I had come to America again with 5 bibles in my luggage, for a bible school. Then decided to go to Utah, with an almost expired visa, to visit a friend. I came on vacation and left on probation. And their entire capitol hill family isn't even real. I don't even have money right now for an immigration lawyer and even if i did, my appeal would probably flunk. What a goddamn clusterfuck..
